Many people have asked for my view on the proposals for a mineral extraction site in Hamble. I have always opposed the senseless development along Hamble Lane and believe that this area cannot cope with anymore development. I am completely opposed to this proposal.
I've been campaigning against the excessive development on Hamble Lane since I was elected for a number of reasons but the congestion, traffic and safety issues are major problems especially so close to Hamble School. A new mineral extraction site with lorries and other heavy machinery will only make the current problems much, much worse. This is before we even consider the environmental damage and the loss of green space.
This will be a disaster for our local area and I have already made my feelings known to Cemex (the developer) and the County Council who are the authority responsible in the strongest possible terms. I am 100% opposed to this.
