On Saturday, it was a great pleasure to be out in Botley listening to many of the small independent businesses operating in the village such as Wardrobe @24 and Mermaids. It was also Small Business Saturday nationally and I was delighted to support this campaign which encourages all of us to shop local and value our local retailers. Rest assured, I also put my money where my mouth and bought some Christmas presents for my family!
This year has been like no other for small businesses. I know the combination of grants, loans, wage support schemes and business rate relief has made a real difference to many but I am also aware that further help will be required to help local businesses transition from the pandemic into recovery. I will continue to champion our small businesses and make sure their voices are heard by the Government.
