As part of my plan to ‘Get Eastleigh Moving’, I have been campaigning for the installation of a lift that would allow disabled people and other people with mobility issues which includes parents with pushchairs to cross the footbridge at Hedge End.
The current situation is unacceptable and has gone on for too long. This is why I was pleased to host a debate about this problem in the House of Commons and make the case for Hedge End.
Encouragingly, the Rail Minister did confirm that there would be future funding available for precisely this sort of upgrade and I’ll be pushing hard to make sure Hedge End Station is top of the list.
