Yesterday I asked the Housing Minister, Rachel Maclean, to condemn Lib Dem-run Eastleigh Borough Council for their reckless and cynical behavior after they voted to abandon their obligations to build affordable housing on a 2,500 development on Horton Heath. This is just another example of the Lib Dems saying one thing and doing another. They talk about providing affordable housing and looking after the vulnerable, and then in the next instance they vote for something like this.
We all know why they are doing this. They have accrued such a massive debt from speculative land purchases which have gone wrong, and now they are trying to make up for it by building homes that nobody can afford, and will only seek to worsen inequality and exacerbate the housing crisis.
