As many of you will know, Barclays announced that their bank branch in Hedge End will close due to the decreased footfall and in order to make savings.
Concerned about the impact this would have on older residents who in particular rely on physical access to their bank to manage their finances, I contacted Barclays in concert with Hedge End Town Council to ask for a solution to this loss.
I am therefore very pleased that Barclays will operate a service, offering face-to-face financial support and advice for customers in the form of a mobile van.
The van will be at Budgens Car Park, Hedge End, from Wednesday 22nd November (Market Day) and every Wednesday 9.30am – 3.00pm, and at Hedge End Retail Park, every Friday 10.00am – 3.00pm.
The above days and times will be reviewed at the end of the year to ensure access for customers at the right days, locations, and times.
Customers visiting the Barclays Van will be able to access a range of in-person support including assistance with everyday finances and money management (such as helping customers open accounts, updating customer details, or paying bills).
Appointments can be made online via https://events.uk.barclays/barclaysvan/search/ or for those customers without access to the internet, some drop-in appointments will be available.
I understand that the Van is cashless, and everyday banking transactions including cash deposits and withdrawals will need to be completed at a local Post Office.
