It was great to meet up with Paul Cox, the Principal of Eastleigh college recently during one of our regular catch ups. Paul and all his staff are doing a fantastic job at the college, which has such a strong reputation across Hampshire for delivering a wide range of high-quality courses, apprenticeships and transferable skills pathways.
At the beginning of the year, I had the pleasure of meeting a number of students during National Apprenticeship Week. It was great to chat to them and learn about the range of apprenticeships they were taking and the variety of practical skills they were learning, which are so vital for the future success of this country.
Paul and I spoke about how the college has continued operating and managing learners throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, implementing a transparent communication policy and future proofing delivery if the number of positive covid results increases rapidly. As soon as I arrived on site, it was clear to see the health & safety measures and social distancing guidance all in place and being adhered to by everyone.
Paul shared with me future plans and ideas for the college, which are incredibly exciting and will be announced over the next few months.
I’m incredibly proud of all the schools and colleges in my constituency and thank all of them for their continued hard work, professionalism and dedication particularly over the past few months during what has been such an unprecedented time.
I look forward to catching up with Paul again in the New Year.
