Since my meeting with Highways England and Hampshire County Council in January, I have been working on ways to improve the A27 diversion route. The noise and disturbance caused by this diversion is a major issue for local residents in West End and that is why I am pleased we have now got a speed camera in place and a new speed limit (40mph reduced to 30mph) on Church Hill.
The speed camera is in place and will help reduce speeds along the diversion route to make it quieter for residents. Hampshire County Council is putting a new 30 mph speed limit on Church Hill from next Monday which will also help to reduce the noise and disturbance caused by this problematic diversion.
This marks real progress on the discussions had in January. I am also organising a community meeting with key organisations to look at additional options. We have made some improvements but there is still more to do.
