The new football complex on Stoneham Lane is a valuable local facility that I know lots of parents and children use regularly for football.
Stoneham Lane itself can be a dangerous road particularly during the winter, when visibility worsens considerably. For several months, I have been working with Neill Cassar from the Hampshire FA to secure some improvements to the entrance of the facility so that people can access the site safely. Today, I was really pleased to visit the complex to hear about the plans being put in place to make the road crossing, between the complex and the parking area, safer. This is something we have been working on for some time so I am delighted to report that the crossing will be repositioned to make it easier for people to access the site and that improved lighting and new barriers will also be installed.
I am grateful for the efforts of Hampshire County Council and the Hampshire FA in helping to make this happen, it really has been a team effort.
This represents the second phase of improvements to the crossing after I asked National Highways to repair the broken lighting panels on the nearby bridge.
