Paul successfully campaigned alongside local residents against the planned gravel quarry on Hamble Airfield, which would have caused huge problems with traffic, increased air pollution, and destroyed a valued community green space.
The application was rejected after four years of dedicated campaigning across the local community, supported by Paul throughout. This included hundreds of objections to the planning authority, many local meetings, and taking a group of students from Hamble School to present a petition at 10 Downing Street.
“We are all delighted that the right decision has been made,” said Paul. “I want to thank all of those in Hamble and the surrounding area who worked so hard – it shows that if we stand together as a community, we can make our voices heard. I look forward to many more relaxing walks through the airfield now that its future is secure!”
